What a joy it is to let you know about this new CD! We’ve been working on this for quite some time and hope you like the energy and love that is captured on this album. The songs are all in estonian language and tell us a lovestory – from the very first moments to the farewell, hoping to see you again, hear your voice again.
“Esmahetked (First Moments)” is a second album Hedvig recorded with this lineup. First one, “Kohtumistund” was released in 2008 and was nominated as “best jazz album 2008” in Estonia. Some of the tracks were recorded already in 2009, when the band got together to play some concerts in Estonia and Finland. Meanwhile Hedvig worked with her SoulGroup, releasing an album full of groovy beats – “Tants Kestab Veel (The Beat Goes On)”, but in 2012 she got back into the studio working with Hedvig Hanson Group to complete the album “Esmahetked.” Hedvig’s cd-s usually have some guest appearances and this one is no exception – delicate percussion parts are performed by Zürich based percussionist Andi Pupato.
The music is mainly composed by Hedvig. Also the band’s pianist Kristjan Randalu has written two pieces and together with guitarist Andre Maaker they have arranged the music for this cd. And two songs are written by beloved Estonian composers Jaan Tätte and Uno Naissoo.
Voted “best jazz album 2013” @ Estonian Music Awards!
